On February 16, 2010, 12-2pm MST, Oweesta will deliver an introductory
webinar designed to help Native organizations determine if starting a
youth financial education program is appropriate for their organization
and community. A panel of national and grassroots practitioners who
currently run successful youth programs will provide an overview of
effective youth products and services as well as the benefits and time
requirements of starting a youth financial education program.
Topics of Discussion will include the following:
* Sharing the Challenges and Successes of Their Program
* Best Practices
* Target Markets
* Program Design
* Partners
* Funding
* Visions for the Future
* Q & A

Oweesta welcomes representatives from First Peoples Youth
Entrepreneurship Camp, Four Bands Community Fund, and the Junior
Achievement Native Initiative as our panelists. Panel discussion will be
moderated by Oweesta's Director of Financial Education & Asset Building,
Vickie Oldman-John, and will be followed by Q&A.

The webinar session will be delivered via GotoWebinar. Dial-up
information will be sent to all registered participants prior to the
start of the webinar.
The webinar is free of charge and designed with an emphasis on Native
programs, but is open to other institutions serving Native people.
"Other institutions serving Native people" include: Tribes, Tribal
agencies (such as housing authorities), Tribal colleges, Native
nonprofit organizations, and Community development organizations with
experience and expertise in delivering financial services and products
in Native communities.
This webinar is offered through the Expanding Native Opportunities:
Native Financial Skills Initiative, a comprehensive training and
technical assistance program to help Native communities design and
implement financial education programs. This initiative is fully funded
by the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund of the
U.S. Department of the Treasury.
