Registration Now Open for First Nations' April 2009 LEAD Institute
National Conference
 
                     
Longmont, Colorado- First Nations Development Institute (First Nations)
announced today that registration is now open for its 2009 LEAD
Institute National Conference.
 
For the 2009 conference, First Nations is partnering with Native
Americans in Philanthropy's Annual Native Philanthropy Institute. Both
events will be held at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa located at
Santa Ana Pueblo in New Mexico. The Native Philanthropy Institute will
take place on April 6 & 7 followed by First Nations' LEAD Institute
National Conference on April 8, 2009. The LEAD Institute National
Conference will provide training and networking opportunities for Native
nonprofit and philanthropic professionals. Conference topics will
include program development & evaluation, fundraising, Native
leadership, and financial management. Additionally, First Nations will
host an invitation-only evening reception for Emerging Native Nonprofit
Leaders.

The LEAD Institute National Conference is part of First Nations'
Leadership Entrepreneurial Apprenticeship Development (LEAD) program.
Through the LEAD program, First Nations provides selected participants a
one-year mentorship and training in areas critical to successful
nonprofit leaders, including financial management, factors affecting
Native or reservation-based nonprofit organizations, fundraising,
program evaluation and service leadership. The LEAD program is funded by
grants of $300,000 over three years from the Bill & Melinda Gates
Foundation, $400,000 over two years from the Ford Foundation and $25,000
from American Express as well as contributions from individual
supporters.
